5. Call your Representative and Senators by calling the Capital Switchboard 202-224-3121 and leave the following message:

"My name is (NAME).  I urge you to stop the dumping of Hurricane Katrina debris into a site that is only 0.8 miles from the devastated minority community of New Orleans East. Without the proper safeguards, toxic materials from the debris will contaminate and harm the children and families of the area. I ask you to deny the local Waste Management's pending application with the Army Corps of Engineers for permission to dump on the site and urge the Army Corps to take the debris to a site with safeguards 20 miles away.  Thank you."
